Lando Norris led a McLaren 1-2 in a dramatic and chaotic sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton took third place for Ferrari, after a great strategy.
The sprint was delayed due to a soaked track, and Charles Leclerc crashed on the way to the grid, ending his race before it began. Most drivers started on intermediate tyres and struggled with grip. Verstappen even slid off but rejoined the pack. Conditions were so poor that visibility was low, and the race was red-flagged before it officially began.
After a 20-minute delay, the weather improved and the track dried quickly. On Lap 3, the sprint finally got underway with a standing start. Oscar Piastri made a strong launch and passed pole-sitter Antonelli to take the lead. Antonelli dropped to fourth and claimed Piastri pushed him off, but the stewards took no action.
Piastri led from Norris and Verstappen. Sainz and Ocon had a great battle, while Hamilton struggled with handling and Lawson complained about a broken visor. Verstappen was also checked for being out of position on the grid, but no penalty was given.
By Lap 10, Piastri had pulled two seconds clear of Norris, with Verstappen in third. Russell was close behind Antonelli and pushed for a team order swap, saying he was quicker.
The track kept drying, and dry tyre gambles began. Tsunoda was first, followed by Hamilton, and others quickly followed. Then chaos hit in the pits: Verstappen and Antonelli collided, Piastri went off track, and multiple drivers struggled. Carlos Sainz also crashed and got a puncture after his own mistake, ending his Sprint early. Piastri finally pitted on Lap 14, letting Norris into the lead.

Then Lawson spun Alonso into the wall, bringing out the Safety Car. Norris used it perfectly, pitting and keeping the lead. Verstappen got a 10-second penalty for the pit lane incident, and Antonelli was frustrated Piastri wasn’t penalised for earlier contact.

This late-race drama helped Norris secure the win, finishing ahead of Piastri as the race ended under the Safety Car. Hamilton benefitted from an early stop to take third, while Verstappen dropped from fourth to 17th after a 10-second penalty, promoting Alex Albon to a stunning fourth for Williams.
George Russell finished fifth, followed by Lance Stroll and Liam Lawson, whose result may change after his incident with Alonso. Oliver Bearman claimed the final point in eighth for Haas. However, there will be many investigations after the race, so the final classification might change.
