Bagnaia has said he has very good chances for the 2027 MotoGP season, and it now looks more likely that he could leave Ducati.

Bagnaia has been with Ducati for a long time. He joined MotoGP in 2019 with the Pramac Ducati team. In 2021, he moved to the main factory Ducati team. He then became world champion in 2022 and again in 2023. In 2024, he came very close to winning a third title. He won 11 races that season but just missed out on the championship.

The 2025 season was much harder for him. He finished only fifth in the championship and won just two races. His team-mate Marc Márquez was very strong and dominated the season on the GP25 bike.

During the winter, Ducati has been very focused on renewing Marc Márquez’s contract. At the same time, Bagnaia has not been a big part of Ducati’s plans for 2027. Because of this, many people now think Bagnaia could leave the team. There have also been reports that Pedro Acosta has agreed to join Ducati in the future, which would reduce Bagnaia’s chances of staying.

Bagnaia has been linked with other teams, including Yamaha and Aprilia. He has now confirmed that he has several good options. Speaking at the Sepang test, he said he has great opportunities and that he will decide very soon. He made it clear that a decision about his future is close.

At the Sepang test in Malaysia, Bagnaia also had a positive final day. He completed a sprint race simulation and was only slightly slower than Alex Márquez, who was the fastest rider on the day. This gave him confidence.

Bagnaia said he actually felt better in this test than he did last year, even though he won the sprint race at Sepang in 2024. He explained that last year he was struggling more with the bike. This time, he felt more comfortable, smoother, and more consistent with his lap times.

He also spoke about the track conditions. He said they became better and better during the day. The team chose to do the simulation when conditions were more difficult because of high temperatures. Even so, he was very happy with the work they did.

When it comes to aerodynamics, Bagnaia seems to prefer the 2024-spec front fairing, combined with a different set-up on the side of the bike. He said it is a mix of new and old parts. While nothing is fully decided yet, he added that if a race was held tomorrow, he would choose the same bike configuration he used in the sprint simulation.

Overall, Bagnaia leaves Sepang feeling more confident about the bike and calm about his future, knowing he has strong choices ahead for 2027.
