MotoGP motogpfriday Reports MotoGP Brazil Motogp 2026 Season
A rain-delayed MotoGP FP1 session in Brazil delivered mixed conditions and a shuffled order, with Pedro Acosta emerging on top ahead of a competitive field. As the track dried and lap times rapidly improved, late-session runs on slick tyres proved decisive.
After a delay caused by rain, the MotoGP FP1 got underway. This session was longer than usual, but because of the rain, it was shortened to 60 minutes. The track itself started to dry up a little, with small dry spots on the racing line.
The riders had wet soft tyres at the front with slick medium tyres at the back. The times initially ranged from 1:29 to 1:32, with Johann Zarco taking the lead as the first rider to break into the 1:29s.
But it didn’t take long for the times to improve. Marc Márquez was the first to break into the 1:28s, with Joan Mir and Alex Rins close behind him, making it a mixed field. For this weekend, Fermín Aldeguer received approval from doctors to return to racing.

With 15 minutes gone, the top 10 looked as follows: Marc Márquez, Mir, Rins, Morbidelli, Binder, Zarco, Acosta, Fernández, and Miller.
As it is a new track, the riders are still getting used to it. Acosta made a small trip into the gravel at Turn 6.
The only rider able to challenge Marc so far was Pedro Acosta, who was just 0.004s behind him. Francesco Bagnaia wasted no time improving after a not-so-good weekend in Thailand. He set an incredible lap to move into second place, just 0.001s behind Marc Márquez. This hinted that the times would be very close.
The field itself was mixed, anyone trying to predict positions based on Thailand would be surprised. While Yamaha was still not performing well overall, Alex Rins managed to stay in the top 10, while Jack Miller was in 15th. Toprak Razgatlioglu was in 19th, with Fabio Quartararo in 20th. Marco Bezzecchi, who mostly dominated the weekend in Thailand, was holding onto 10th place, while his teammate Jorge Martín was comfortably in 4th.
At the halfway mark of the session, Marc Márquez managed to improve his time even further, breaking into the 1:27s and creating a gap of almost one second to the rider in second place.
With 30 minutes gone, the top 10 looked as follows: Marc Márquez, Bagnaia, Acosta, Mir, Marini, Viñales, Bastianini, Rins, Zarco, and Morbidelli.

Alex Rins was really putting in the work, as he was able to close in on Marc Márquez and move up to second place, clearly the top Yamaha rider.
With 17 minutes left, Pedro Acosta came very close to taking the lead from Marc Márquez, but he was slower in Sector 3, which cost him the improvement. Another rider to surprise was Razgatlioglu, who was sitting in 5th place, while the only Yamaha rider struggling to improve was Quartararo.
With only 10 minutes left, the top 10 looked as follows: Marc Márquez, Rins, Acosta, Zarco, Martín, Razgatlioglu, Morbidelli, Alex Márquez, Viñales, and Bezzecchi. As the track became drier, riders switched to slick tyres, which suited the conditions much better. Martín managed to improve his time and took the lead from Marc Márquez.
The home hero Diogo Moreira was in 12th place and had completed the fewest laps. As the session neared its end, the times improved even more. Marc Márquez broke into the 1:26s, with Morbidelli in second and Acosta in third place.
With the chequered flag out, only a few riders managed to improve at the end, like Bezzecchi, who jumped to third. However, Pedro Acosta took first place, with Jack Miller in second for Yamaha.
