Marc Marquez made a strong comeback at the official MotoGP test in Jerez on Monday, setting the two fastest lap times of the day while testing Ducati’s latest technical updates. Just one day after crashing out of the Spanish Grand Prix, the factory Ducati rider showed impressive speed and gave a clear sign that the new parts could be a game-changer for the season ahead.
Marc Marquez tested the latest Ducati updates during Monday’s test, and it looked very promising. He set the two fastest lap times of the day, proving the potential of the new developments. Marquez’s best time was 1:35.876s, which he set in the afternoon. This lap time was quicker than the next best lap, which was set by Maverick Viñales. Marc’s fast time came just one day after he crashed during the Spanish Grand Prix at the same track. Monday’s test was the first chance for Ducati to try out the new parts this season.
Yet the conditions were different than on race day. Even though the weather was similar, the wind and improved grip made lap times hard to compare. Still, Marc’s lap was slightly slower than Fabio Quartararo’s pole position time.
Francesco Bagnaia also didn’t seem to find anything special in the new parts. He ended up 15th in the morning and 17th in the afternoon. Bagnaia put in 64 laps while Marquez completed 79.
Alex Marquez had a quiet test day, as he didn’t have anything big to try out. So he stopped early and was 7th in the morning and 10th in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, the VR46 team had more updates to test. Fabio Di Giannantonio tested several new things, as he is riding the same bike as Bagnaia and Marquez. Yet he only did 48 laps but was 5th in the morning. His teammate, Franco Morbidelli, could not ride after he crashed hard on both Saturday and Sunday. He suffered a concussion and will need to pass a medical check before he can continue racing.
The team has decided that Franco will not participate in today's Jerez test to rest following a neck contusion sustained in yesterday's crash, with a focus on the #FrenchGP @MotoGP pic.twitter.com/5YomRHnSPS

Yamaha had a good testing run. Fabio Quartararo tested a new engine that gave the bike more power, especially on the straights. Quartararo then said that the engine was a clear improvement and that these four days were the best he’s had in three years. The team ended the testing early in the afternoon. Quartararo finished third overall for the day. His teammate Alex Rins also wrapped up the testing early.
KTM had five riders testing, including Dani Pedrosa. On the other hand, Pedro Acosta had a crash early in the day, which interrupted his testing plan.
Aprilia mostly focused on aerodynamic updates, including a new rear wing that Marco Bezzecchi used over the race weekend. Bezzecchi also tested a new swingarm. Trackhouse Aprilia worked with Ai Ogura on improving his own riding, but they also tested the new aero parts. Lorenzo Savadori, who is Aprilia’s test rider, was focusing on braking and stability. Aprilia riders did a lot of laps.
Honda brought many new parts too, including a fresh swingarm design. Their test rider Takaaki Nakagami joined the team. Wild card Aleix Espargaro did not participate. Sadly, Somkiat Chantra had a tough day as he missed the morning due to arm pump and crashed in the afternoon.
In the end, it's @marcmarquez93 who tops the #JerezTest ahead of Maverick Viñales and Fabio Quartararo 👏#MotoGP pic.twitter.com/g9R1t7FamB
