Day 2 of the Sepang MotoGP Shakedown Test has finished, and the new season is getting closer. This test is very important because it gives riders and teams track time that is difficult to find once racing begins. Only test riders, some riders from certain teams, and rookies can take part.

Yamaha had a very strong day. Jack Miller, riding for Prima Pramac Yamaha, was the fastest rider with a lap time of 1:57.908. This is a very quick time for testing and it shows progress from the team. Fabio Quartararo was on track for the first time in 2026 and looked comfortable straight away. He placed both of his bikes inside the top five, which shows good speed and confidence. His teammate Alex Rins was also close to the front and continued Yamaha’s positive performance.

Rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu kept improving as he learns the Yamaha V4 engine, the Michelin MotoGP tyres, and the Sepang circuit. He was seven tenths of a second faster than on the first day, which is a big improvement for a new rider. Yamaha’s test team also worked hard, with Augusto Fernandez and experienced rider Andrea Dovizioso collecting data and trying new parts to help develop the bike.

KTM were very competitive as well. Pol Espargaro finished second and was only 0.025 seconds slower than Miller, which is an extremely small gap. Dani Pedrosa, another KTM test rider and former MotoGP star, completed many laps and tested different settings and parts. KTM are known for strong testing work, and they again showed good speed.

Honda also made progress. Aleix Espargaro was their fastest rider with a time of 1:58.066, putting him near the very top. He had a small technical problem during the day, but this is normal in testing and helps teams find and fix issues before the season starts. Diogo Moreira improved his pace as well and was much quicker than on Day 1 as he continues to adapt to the MotoGP bike.

Ducati’s work was led by Michele Pirro, their test rider. He completed many laps and improved his time from the first day. Ducati seemed to focus on steady development and data gathering rather than showing many new parts, following earlier aerodynamic testing.

Aprilia had a busy day with test rider Lorenzo Savadori. His job is to prepare several bikes for the full-time race riders. Aprilia are working on their chassis and aerodynamics for the 2026 season, and this early testing helps make sure everything is ready for pre-season testing.

The top riders from Yamaha, KTM, and Honda were separated by only a very small amount of time, showing how close MotoGP already looks. Even in testing, the competition is tight. There is still one more day of action at Sepang before teams take a short break to study the data. The signs so far suggest the 2026 MotoGP season could be very exciting.
